Some internet based companies, in particular the ones who prefer to
trowel apply the coating, promote the self cleaning ability of their
products.
Wall2Wall thought it was about time that you the consumer, were
informed that non of the coating 'Pliolite' systems will clean
themselves.
It is not rocket science to work out that the heavier the texture,
the more surface area it will have and subsequently the more dirt it
will attract.
Take a look at this example below, the coating was applied by trowel
to this property which is part of a large apartment project in
Leeds.
The company concerned are still applying the coating system to the
other new buildings, this property is less than 6 months old and
just look how dirty it is.
Whether the 'Pliolite' based thick textured products are trowel or
spray applied it really makes no difference to the longevity of the
system, however it does make a difference to the texture.
We can report that a major German Manufacturer 'Sto' have produced a
self cleaning coating and render called 'Lotusan', see

You may have seen it on TV Channel Fours Grand Designs, we are
